Default Need to lose 15lbs to compete/Is it realistic?

Hi everyone,

I want to compete in my first fight in mid-April and I am currently weighing 180 lbs. I'd like to drop to 165 to compete, but I wonder if it is realistic and safe to lose this amount of weight in one month and a half? I have body fat (can barely see 2 top abdominals) but I have the discipline to train and eat for it.

I am usually training three times a week right now, 1h30 by session in a boxing gym but I am ready to step-up. I eat pretty well but not perfectly.

So how would this work? Do you think running 7kms a day/6 days a week + stationary bike and of course 4-5 sessions of 1h30 in the gym would be enough?

I guess I would need to cut a lot on sugar and fats (even if I don't eat a lot of fat things). I usually eat a lot of fish, chicken and turkey, almost no red meat, and eat lots of fruits and vegetables and drink around 3-4 cups of green or white tea per day, but I have a tendency to eat cakes and some sweet things but I can cut that. Should I totally avoid rice, white bread, potatoes and reduce my fruit intake (I eat more fruits than vegetables)?

What do you think? Thanks.

why drop so much weight? since its your first fight its probably a matched bout so they'll set you up with someone within 8 pounds of your weight. and since its your first fight i wouldn't put so much emphasis on your weight anyway, your gonna fight the same way no matter what and the weight is gonna be the last thing on your mind. and you dont want to feel drained while slugging it out. if its a novice tournament then forget everything i said

If you want to lose the weight go for it. Boxers do that all the time. If you have weight to lose go for it. If you have to waste away muscle dont do it for your first fight. Usually at that level the weight doesnt really make much difference anyway. But if losing the 15 pounds will give you the mental edge of fighting a smaller guy do it mate.
