Default Philadelphia Jack O Brien

Perusing through his record, it seems to me that Philadelphia Jack O Brien is a very underrated and overlooked fighter. Out of 185 fights he only lost 10 and he beat or drew with some all time greats.

Drew with Jack Johnson

Beat 40+ year old Bob Fitzsimmons twice

Beat Joe Choynski twice

Beat Joe Walcott once and drew once

Drew with Charles Kid McCoy

Any thought or opinions?

The fight with Johnson was a no dec 6 rounder,O Brien ,not a hard puncher had to stop Johnson to win.An account of the fight can be found inRandy Roberts "Papa Jack".

He is a bit of an enigma to be honest.

Some historians think that he was a pound for pound great while others think that he was a largley manufactured fighter.
