Default Ken Norton v Riddick Bowe

The Norton circa 1973-76 versus the Bowe of 1992. While I consider that Ken would n't have the style to beat Lennox Lewis,I am confident that he'd be the winner against Riddick. In their first fight,Holyfield put a lot of pressure on which was bothering Bowe. Now,just imagine somebody who was a bigger heavyweight than Evander employing similar tactics. Ken Norton definitely fits the bill here. Bowe would n't have the big punch to disturb Norton. As has been said so often on this site, only two types of top fighter could beat Norton at his best. A big puncher like Foreman or Lewis or a fast mover like Ali or Holmes. Bowe comes into neither category. Norton by decision over twelve or fifteen.

Bowe hit hard enough. I dont know where the idea that he wasn't a puncher comes from.

Norton was very good, but Holyfield was better and more durable.

I think Bowe would stop Norton, sooner or later.

Bowe just hit hard enough? Really, Holyfield fought Bowe 3 times, Tyson 2 times, Lewis 2 times and stated over and over again that Bowe hit harder than Lewis or Tyson. Shot for shot Bowe is one of the hardest punchers in heavyweight history.

Ken Norton wouldnt be able to keep Bowe off him and Ken Norton doesnt have the punch to worry Bowe. Ken Norton gets knocked out in about 3 rounds.

The outcome might depend on who would have the benefit of having Eddie Futch in his corner.
Still I can't see this as a good matchup for Kenny.
Bowe could be a destroyer in the early rounds when Kenny was at his weakest.
The image of Norton being caught on the ropes as against Shavers and Cooney comes to mind.
I don't agree that it was Evander pressuring that gave Riddick the biggest problems, but rather the boxing and movement.
And moving away from opponents was never Nortons forte.

I'm not saying Bowe was featherfisted. It's just that, imo,he was n't the knockout artist type whom Ken was prone to getting knocked out by.
