I feel Walcott had the better of it based on what I've seen but I can understand the decision. Louis did handle business in the rematch although I felt Walcott had been pressured to fight a different fight which ended up with him knocked out. The era did not favour stylists in the mold of Jersey Joe Walcott.
Louis has one of the best KO highlight reels ever. One of his best knockouts was supposedly over Uzcudun, and I have the film, but for whatever reason it cuts right when Louis is about to land the punch, and then shows Uzcudun laying on the canvas, struggling to get up. |

The more I watch old footage of Louis the more I'm convinced that he was the best HW champ of all time and that includes Ali. Ali once said that Joe was too robotic and slow to compete against him but that simply isn't true. Joe was the epitome of economy of motion or rather, no wasted motion. Cool and calculating backed by speed of fist and devestating power and precision. One mistake and it's over. Incredible.

I think Walcott won the first fight but it was close. Louis was the best ever though and JJW made a cocky mistake in fight 2 and walked into a 6piece. Joe Louis was the BESt ever and that includes Ali
