Default How best to fight brawlers.

So I am tall and an out-fighter.
I am still new at this been training for a year and going into my fourth fight. I can and have schooled everyone (with the same amount of experience as me) using my reach and speed until they start to come in running and throwing wild punches from everywhere. At my past two fights they have literally come in running and just chase after me the entire round completely smothering my punches so I have nothing until the end of the round. Do any of you have any advice on how to get the better fight these type of guys?
thanks!

dont brawl with a brawler!! just throw your shots and move, keep them long and straight if you have the reach advantage and use the ring so dont just be goin the same way, chop and change so that they can't cut the ring off and throw shots at you

Or retaliate. The jab is perfect for discouraging swarmers whatever follows.

Any suggestions for the brawlers fighting the bastards with the long-ass reach?

I always manage to eat punches on the way in.

move your head when going in, punches in bunches and cut the ring off so when you do decide to unload hes in the corner or on the ropes

also target the body early on, will make it easier later on

Make sure his jab doesn't land by moving your head. Keep a tight defence otherwise you'll walk into stuff. Cut off the ring. Don't just make him miss, make him pay as well.

Yea, I usually come in after slipping the jab. I dip down and just throw hooks and uppercuts.

But on occasion, when the guy feints and I fall for it, I run right smack into their jabs. Then they just unload. It's not a pretty sight!

Hmm, I will have to try that.

Considering my slow reflexes, I really should do more initiating and less counter-punching.

Be less predictable, your opponent knew what your reaction would be hence the feint

Going back to the original topic, throwing jabs is the way to go. At least it works well against me. Throw feints as well; I always fall for those. And always move after throwing the jab.

So jab, then move, rinse, and repeat. Throw double jabs. Throw triple jabs... and throw the occasional power shot just to keep 'em honest.

Stick and move Mac, stick and move!

If you just throw one jab and stay there they can get through it easy, same with if you throw one jab and then move backwards.

Jab and then step to the side or pivot off to an angle and jab again. Long jabs and straight right hands. If they try to get low smack them with an uppercut while they're on their way in.

If they get in close walk INTO them, not away. If they get in close and you move backwards they can just keep coming forwards and punching. If you walk into them you will smother their punches. You will either get tangled up with him and the ref will call break, or they will have to step back to make room which gives you a second to also take a step back and get back to long range.
