Why did he always wear the white shorts with black trim and the white boots, does anyone know the story behind this?

Gorgeous George told him to do that. Dressing in all white irritates and enrages the opponent, and when someone is enraged, they often make mistakes.

It seems Gorgeous George has to got a lot answer for.

No, to be fair that trip to Vegas in 61 as well as producing a solid win over Sabedong enlightened Ali and perhaps more than any other event in Ali's life helped him become an icon that transcended the sport and made him with little argument the biggest figure of the 70s.
