# 3 is Archie Moore........ Moore was great, but tall boxers with speed, guile and power were normally able to out-finess him in a match...... But Moore sometimes got home with a punch of his own to end matters... Moore was great........

i voted 'other' only because i couldnt seperate you top 3 plus conn and foster. The l/heavys to me is probabley the hardest to pick as i think they are too hard to pick one supreme fighter

That '91 loss to Hearns by decision still haunts Hill's legacy to this day....... Hill's 2007 decision loss to Henry Maske was horrid.... The fight stunk, but I thought Hill out-pointed Maske on the punch-stat...... Maske threw 10 punchers a round and was slow as shit......... Maske got some home cooking there........

Yea, Hill often get's overlooked and I like him very much. A very nice and humble human beeing Also he is the third best lhw of the 90s I'd say just short of Michalchewski and Jones but not by that much. He deserves to be included into the HoF.

But:
Amateur achievements should not count when judging the pro career of a fighter.
Maske won in 2007 and clearly. The fight was a stinker but Maske made Hill fight his fight, controlled the pace and flow of the fight, landed the cleaner and harder punches and showed the better defence. Hill threw more but landed less. How anybody could have this fight for Hill really amazes me.

Sorry but Jones did not dominate the weightclass. He was the number one contender of the linear champ who was DM but never made that fight happen - and if he wanted the fight would have happened. The only fighters of note at the time he beat them are Hill, who just came of a loss to DM and Tarver, who's only claim to fame is basically beating Jones. All the other guys were either far past their prime and/or far removed from their best weight, never has beens or just average.
Jones at lhw get's very overated. He should be top15 but nothing more.


To the topic:
I rank Charles, Moore and Foster alongside each other in my tier one. If I would have to decide I'd pick Charles as numero uno.

Though I can think of others that would have concievably beat him in a matchup, I choose Ezzard Charles as the best overall.

I voted for Charles. I almost voted for Spinks but I have to admit to being biased towards fighters who fought 100 to 200 + fights versus guys who fought 30 odd fights (despite that being my era). I think H2H Spinks would be a very tough out for any of these guys.
