I am 5'10" I fight at 57kg. Currently at 60 though hahah stopped running for 2 weeks. I think I can get down to 54 but I will need to be mad disciplined.

I'm like 5'11" and when I started two years ago I was 230lbs. I now walk around at 175lbs, fight at 165lbs and I'm thinking of cutting to 152lbs. You want to be a small as your frame will allow you without taking away from your power or conditioning. I never chose a weight class to fight at. I just took the fights as they came while I kept getting smaller and smaller. My first fight I weighed 190lbs and fought a guy that must have weighed 210lbs. He looked that big anyways. I'd rather fight shorter guys but I'm in the middle range as far as height goes so I have to be good at inside and outside fighting.

5'8 and currently 160lbs built like a tank from wrestling and heavy lifting.
Also depends on a persons bone density what weight you will be. I plan on fighting at 156lbs with a blistering perpetual attack. Legs and back are huge for my weight so anything below 156 would be stupid in my situation. As stated beautifully by Mr. Small, find what works for you. |

well if you look at some of the current champs in the sport- and compare them to just 10- 15 years ago you ll see that height is all over the shop:
HW - klitchsko- 6'5" Tyson- 5'10" SMW - Ward - 6'1" Jones - 5'11" MW - Pavlk - 6'1" Hopkins - 6'1" WW- Manny - 5'6" Trinidad - 5'11" JWW - Bradley- 5'6" Tszyu - 5'6" i think there is a range of about 4 inches in every division- for example welter- is anything from 5'6 guys like manny, judah, whitaker- to big welters like hoya, trinidad, cintron. then you have freaks like hearns and williams or freaks at the other end like tyson- who have alot in a compact frame. in the end- there is no right division for height- only weight- otherwise guys like corrales and tyson and dela hoya would be in the same division. its not your height but your body structure that will define your division. |
