Default Macklin vs Geale set for later this year OR is he fighting Gevor OR both!?

Macklin to face Geale - Source Fight News:

Quote:
Future hall-of-famer Ricky Hatton will be working with leading Australian promoter Bill Treacy to co-promote international contests featuring world rated middleweights Daniel Geale and Mathew Macklin as well as a rematch with IBO welterweight champion Lovemore Ndou vs Mathew Hatton.

Treacy said, “The Grange Gym is proud to be working with Ricky to match WBC #6, IBF #5, WBA #11 Mathew Macklin (26-2, 18 KOs) against our middleweight IBF #7, WBC #14, WBA #14 Daniel Geale (22-1, 13 KOs). This fight could be in Sydney as we now have several television dates with Fox Cable Television network in 2010. Mathew Macklin is one of the best 160 pounders in the world but we have confidence in Daniel Geale to more than hold his own with all the top ten contenders. Daniel would also defeat IBF champion Sebastian Sylvester and WBA champion Felix Sturm. He only needs the opportunity. We are also negotiating to bring Ronald “Winky” Wright to Australia for a contest. Winky has been a great champion but we think Daniel Geale can defeat him.”

Mathew Mackilin and Daniel Geale boxed a common opponent in 2008, both outscoring Geard Ajetovic easily on points. Geale lost a disputed split decision to Anthony Mundine in 2009 for the IBO middleweight title. Mundine vacated the title after the IBO ordered a rematch against Geale.
Macklin to face Gevor - Source the Scene:

Quote:
EBU middle champ Matthew Macklin will according to the EBU defend the title against Khoren Gevor, under contract with Universum but involved in a promotional dispute that as far as I know is not settled yet. Macklin vs Gevor - if on - goes ahead April 16 in Birmingham.
Both stories broke today

Plus it looks like the eagerly anticipated rematch between M Hatton vs N'Dou looks to be happening as well

But will it be N'Dou's backyard... I doubt it...

I am not a Matthew Hatton hater, he is doing what he is doing on the back of his brothers name and promotional banner...

He should prove he is the best domestically before he looks in the mirror and says "I am the best in my Country, I am going to be the World Champion"...

He can't do that because he ain't...

Macklin V Geale is an amazing fight, I thought Geale was robbed against Mundine.

Shame theres no undercard

This is a serious test for Macklin on foreign soil too !!!!! , Geale is no joke he brings the heat and looks to stop the fight i really like this fight , but why the **** not Darren Barker !!!!!! , this is a common trend we see all to often British fighters looking to avoid , because thats whats happening Macklin is avoiding Barker , other British fighters its a ****in joke , its a good fight for Macklin , a hard one too but why not Barker !!!!!!!

Matthew Hatton ........................ i wish the lad well , i dont like Ndou and im rooting for Hatton there .

Macklin will be looking for a crack at a world title this year and Barker is not going to provide him with a significant boost to his world rankings. High risk, low reward kind of fight.

Also, you like M Hatton?

I really feel for Craig!! Matt Hatton is just talking crazy the min he states he's the best fighter in the country, He ain't the best fighter in his town never mind the country!!

Geale fights with his chin up and believe me Macklin will hit it and drop it!! Macklin can really punch BUT I also am starting to believe he's avoiding Barker now!! He could have had a massive payday out of Hennesy to fight Barker too!!

No i just dont like Ndou , Hatton is shite !!!!!

This is a term i absolutley hate in boxing " High Risk Low Reward " , fact is Barker is British and so is Macklin and they would make for a great fight , so get the deal done , its that simple , i really dont fancy Macklin against Geale anyway , id fancy Barker to beat him too , so must Matty !!!!!

To be fair to macklin, his career has moved further than fighting other domesic contenders now. No disrepect to barker, but he is a good 4-6 fights off being ready to fight macklin.
