After all the recent deridement of British officials, I thought I would take the time to commend Mr Edwards on a terrific job as referee tonight.
He controlled the action well, warning the men to stop holding and breaking them immediatly when a clinch arrived. Rather to actual holding when you can fight out of it, and Mr Edwards allowed them to fight out of it when it was available. He warned both men at the start of the seventh which was fair as both men were holding. After the warning it did appear Dodsaon was doing most of the holding and he looked to stamp it out before eventually taking a point off, which was a brilliant call. He also at times physically broke the men when it needed to be done. But most importantly he allowed the fight to continue whilst their was a horrible cut. it was a cut that could have ******ted a stoppage but Mr Edwards bravely allowed it to go on, and Mick Williamsons brilliant cutsman ability patched up the cut superbly and it ceased to be a factor in the bout. Some of the best refereeing I have seen in a while. |

I don't think the point deduction was warrnated. Sorry.
It was a tight scrappy fight, but I think he was on Dodson's back a lot more than he was on Smiths. I don't think either fighter deserved to be penalised; it was just that kinda fight. |
