Excellent post.

This is what annoys me a bit regarding Lewis. Prior to the fight he was still fighting weel, etc but straight after the fight the excuse makers came out and instead of giving Vitali props, excuses where made for why Lewis didnt "blow him away".

If you see through Lewis's career people who can either keep with his jab or out jab him, cause him problems and make the man sloppy at times and out of sorts.

Not knocking Lewis as he is a great fighter, but people tend to bring up excuses like "lucky punch", overweight and old.

But it's a pretty big technicality.

The stoppage was absolutely right. Vitali could have ended up blind. Lewis was landing hard shots on the inside and his timing was playing more of a factor.

You can't ignore that Lewis was under trained - he looked under trained! He was 38 and just wanted to make money. He still kicked Vitali's ass.

The win itself is a very good, very deserved win for Lennox and his legacy and he retired with nothing further to accomplish in the sport of boxing.

I think what sticks in people's throats is the way Lennox initially indicated his agreement to a rematch, made Vitali see his own doctor, spoke about taking other fights and then decided to retire when the WBC reinstalled Vitali as his mando.

Had Lennox decided to retire without any of that, it probably would've minimised the 'controversy'.
