Default ? key points in perfecting the left uppercut

What's up ESB,
Would anybody be able to list some key points in perfecting the left uppercut? The punch still feels a bit akward for me, and for some reason there isn't enough power behind it when I throw. Thanks in advance.

Are you orthodox or southpaw?

Make sure your knee is a little bit bent before throwing it but otherwise it's like any other punch, from your feet through to your hands making sure you don't tense/close your fist until the point of impact-doing this is abit harder to time with an uppercut than other punches, probably why it feels awkward.

I'm a southpaw and I'm also having a bit of trouble with my left uppercut, the placement doesn't feel right and I'm not really hitting with my knuckles. Do i have to shorten the range of the punch??

This is the best instructional video I've found on the left uppercut, but since the guy is wearing black shoes and floor is black, I'm not sure which foot flat and which one is on the ball when I punch is thrown. Towards the end, he also seems to be sliding the back foot when he throws although I don't understand why. If anyone can better explain the footing I would greatly appreciate it.

if you can, try holding a bucket in your left hand.
keep your fist horizontal & at 90 degrees to your torso (if that makese sense). squat down and drive up with your front leg.
that gives you an idea of how it should feel.

imagine your elbow is attached to your hip. Then drive your hip to plant your punch into the target. And remember to rotate the punch out all the way out, meaning palm up.
