700k?
Hmm, I'd say that's a price worth considering actually if it'll get him the fight with Wladimir. Plus Povetkin doesn't seem to be bothering about anything in particular these days. The guy's just come to an absolute dead stop in his career for over a year now. |

Fightnews:
WBA heavyweight champon David Haye’s wish to fight IBF/WBO/IBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko next may prove to be an expensive proposition. Reportedly a number of 700,000 Euros ($935,000) has been mentioned as the step-aside fee Haye would have to pay IBF mandatory challenger Alexander Povetkin to make the fight with Wlad happen next. |

This potential Haye Wlad fight is starting to sound expensive. 700K for Povetkin and a nice little earner for Valuev as well? Last edited by RichT; 04-07-2010 at 06:43 PM. |

Atlas has stated that Povetkin needs some more fights to work on aspects so this doesn't surprise me.

Will he remain mandatory as long as he keeps fighting other ranked fighters or will he somehow lose his spot if he doesn't take the fight within a certain time? Doesn't seem to be in any rush at all, as others have pointed out.

He's been mandatory for a long while, I know he broke ankle and that put him back a bit. I think Atlas coming in has slowed them down. Teddy knows there isn't a need to rush, Times on his side as long as he beats the best in and around top 10-15 and being with a good promotional team he will get the shot when he's ready. I think Teddy knows Wlad is at peak of his powers. Timing is everything in this sport.

Povetkin's nothing special, but Atlas has gone on record saying he needs time to work on making Povetkin more rounded. He's inexperienced still.

Yep Agreed. People knock Atlas but he's a smart customer and a good addition to his team. Sometimes i've sat watching fighters and said they need a few more fights before title crack and they've gone on to win without having there two learning fights i thought they needed. But as you say i think there playing it smart.
