Last I heard Maori TV pays 80k per fight, so you can forget about the 4 fight card suggested. That deal was signed when Tua was fighting journeymen exclusivelly, back then it was good money for the work, now it strangles the possibility of big fights.
Tua could elect to fight two journeymen quickly to get out of the deal. Or he could forfeit some money and set up a late may fight with WBO#14 Welliver, which will help him improve his ranking. That fight would do good in New Zealand. If his camp could work out a deal to have WBO#13 Basile facing #16 Leapai on the undercard, with a promisse for the winner to make some good money fighting Tua on July, it would be perfect and that next fight could mean an eliminator for a shot at Wlad totally attainable for Tua. At least it would mean the WBO#1 ranking, freedom from the Maori TV deal, a good chunk of extra money at the bank account, quite a lot of hype around Tua's name and a full free second semester to set up the best big fight available out there. |

Tua needs to get some smarter guys around him so he can keep his focus, not have all these constant struggles outside the ring. A David Tua in the right frame of mind and with the right support can take on anybody.
