Default German HW prospect Edmund Gerber

Can somebody fill me in on this young gun?

At 21, he's already creeping up the rankings, appearing seemingly out of nowhere in the past few months with a knockout of Rene Dettweiler, and then of a fellow unbeaten Euro away from home.

BORKED

Here I see a slow starter with a good right hand and valid instincts about finishing - sort of in the mold of nominal countryman Arthur Abraham. At 6'3" and averaging a fighting weight of 235, he is in decent shape and seems to box fairly well, so he would appear disciplined for his age compared to a lot of his contemporaries in the division.

Did he have a prolific amateur career? Does he train with any big names in Germany? Is he being hyped up over there or not expected to get much past the domestic level?

Can't say I'm a fan of Gerber. He looks like another guy they'll try to turn into a regional draw, but I can't imagine him making it past Euro level. Sauerland and Universum are constantly trying to build up actual German fighters (90% of the prominent "German" fighters are actually immigrants), so they feed him a shot big name to make him look good.

My reservations have more to do with the hairstyle straight out of Atlantic City in the 80's.

Gerber is russian.
he scored one impressive lucky punch up to now and my thoughts were that dettweiler would have beaten him quite easily if that hadnt happened. doubt heŽll go any far

The Dettweiler fight was funny as hell. He is entertaining to watch, but won't make it past euro-level.

I see he just got a win over Zack Page at the weekend, didn't actually know he was facing him.

Very few fighters get a chance to land clean on Page.... and those that do (Pulev) still lack the power to put him down on the mat.

Gerber dropped Page twice.

Dropped him 3 times actually, twice in the 2nd round and once late on. Greber impressed me that fight, showed a monster of a right hook. Looking forward to his next fight.

I'll have to ask Zack his opinion about Gerber.
He's a very honest guy when it comes to his opponents. Considering all of the bad decisions he's received over the year.... he's still a very humble guy and will rarely bad mouth an opponent.

Not too long ago I asked him who would win between Kubrat Pulev and Luis Ortiz and he said not even competitive.... "Pulev beats him easy".

He said Pulev was one of the physically strongest boxers he's ever faced.

Is he an ethnic German from Russia, or does he have a Russian name and just pulled a Felix Sturm?

Why are germans such *****s, that they need to import boxers from other countries and then try and pass them off as being german
