And Nigel Benn was a professional athlete, who at that time could not even entertain the thought of loosing to Chris Eubank.

I know these things happen in boxing, but i think its ****ing stupid and unproffessional when fighters at championship level do it.

For a fight with so much hype, and focus. I don't accept that Nigel Benn, went through his whole trainning camp...not checking his weight...?????

"He was fighting in the biggest domestic fight of all-time"

I don't beleave that he just woke up, afew hours before the fight and decided to check his weight for the first time.

Its aload of shit..

Chris Eubank kicked his ass..!!!
Yes, Eubank kicked his ass.

And Benn made the weight, so what's the issue ?

No one was saying he checked his weight for the first time on the morning of the fight. Maybe he checked his weight every day. Maybe he was 163 or 164 pounds or something the day before that, and gained weight unexpectedly at the worst possible time, instead of losing it. It happens sometimes when the body is aching to grow, and every bit of fluid and food is held as weight (blood, muscle etc.). As Benn said, he thought he wasn't eating but he was just sitting around, hence whatever he ate wasn't burning up fast enough.

I dont see why you dismiss it.
I dont accept weight-making as an excuse, and Eubank kicked his ass for real. But it's stupid to say him and the others are all making it up.

I dont give a shit either.

But you are equally retarded and stupid for claiming that Benn and his entourage are lying about him being 6 or 7 pounds over. It's not at all hard to believe.

He was 6 pounds over. He worked it off and made the weight. He fought well. And the better man won. What's so difficult about that ?

He was always a big middleweight. A full 165 pounds as an amateur, and routinely weighed 165+ in non-title fights when he was coming up.

This is the first time I saw Benn fight on TV as a professional, in his fourth pro fight, back in 1987. ....

He weighed in over 12 stone for this fight ....

I remember Buncey telling us on Setanta that Calzaghe was 6lb overweight the day before the Roy Jones weigh-in, possibly more.

It happens.

Over 24 hours, I could lose half a stone through sweat - providing I didn't drink much. But three and a half hours is pushing it.

Andy Ayling will tell you that photos of Benn looking drunken with lapdancers and stippers just a week before the Eubank fight found their way to himself and Chris, and how that is when Eubank knew he had him beat. Eubank secluded himself in a hotel room for six weeks watching Blackadder videos, when he wasn't training, before Eubank-Benn. All he ate was a few biscuits, some meat and veg each day - Eubank, that is, to keep his weight down.
Eubank has far worse troubles making weight than Benn did! On one occasion, can't remember what fight it was for, but Eubank would have the compliemtary fruit in hotel room removed because he was struggling to make weight!

Eubank said he lost 19lb in four days before Eubank-Watson I.

Still when fights had same-day weigh-ins as well.
