Boxing on German TV

Can someone explain to me please what boxing is on shown on terrestial tv and cable tv.

What promoters have got tv deals on regular terrestial tv and cable? And are there cards on regularly on a Friday night and Saturday night etc?

I read on another thread that Universum dont have a tv deal now - what happened there? Is boxing getting squeezed off the tv like what has happened in the UK?

yes on Saturday night normally around 10pm

Would you have boxing on the public channels every saturday night (except for summer months)?

And I take it the ppv/private channels have shows on a Friday night

The Channel RTL broadcast the Klitschko fights. The RTL Show sucks there are a lot of interviews with celebrities and movies about Klitschkos training.
Often we have to wait 45 minutes before the fight starts.
RTL doesn't broadcast any undercard fights.

ZDF boradcast sucks almost every time, They are picking always the wrong main Event. The commentator is based and incompetent
there's no undercard and after the main fight the german sportschau broadcast soccer replays from the day.
The undercard is broadcast as a summary later often at 1 a.m. at night


ARD is the best and broadcast often two live fight at a two hour show and highlights from the undercard

Yes this was the case in the past but now there are 1 or 2 shows on the public channels in one month
ZDF will stop broadcasting boxing after july

it's great that this fights are in free tv but the show really sucks compared to HBO or showtime.
Almost all fights from outside of germany are ignored by german TV.
Our only chance to see big fights like Marquez-Diaz, Mayweather-Mosley is to look for a livestream.

Wish we had even half of that over here in england
use to have a shit load when sky picked up every single big fight from the states free of charge !....unless it was a english fighter fighting then they stuck it on ppv. we got setanta and had big fights for free all the time to which was awesome but they went bust :(

Not completly true. RTL showed some big foreign fights in the past, like Mayweather-DLH.

Personally I´m only interested in the fights. All that talking before and afterwards ... I don´t give a sh*t. Shallow BS most of the time and it doesn´t matter if it´s German, American or British press. All the same.

This year Gamboa-Mtagwa, Lopez-Luevano, Jones-Hopkins and Mayweather-Mosley were on Sky and Pac-Clottey was free on Eurosport, so sometimes we can see those big fights, too.

Mayweather-DLH and Mayweather-Hatton were on RTL.

Eurosport is showing some good cards, too, on delay with Castor commentating them. All in all we can´t complain.

ARD is good, you get some of the Super Six usually involving Arthur Abraham and yes ZDf is sometimes poor usually involving latest average German boxing star against imported target practice tomato can..
Its interesting to watching RTL it reminds me much of the eighties Big Fight Live on ITV 1 celebs and hero worship of the main stars here being old Steelhammer and Dr Ironfist..........
