Default Jimmy Lennon recounts Chavez-Haugen (130K fans), Tyson-Holyfield II (Bite Fight)

Interesting read.

For the day of the fight, I showed up at noon or 12:30 to do rehearsal because they wanted to have me there. So we went through all the introductions and the place already had a lot of people. It seemed like a national holiday. Everyone was at the fight. The route for us getting there [involved] a police escort to get to the rehearsal and the whole streets were full of people. It seemed like they were all walking to Mecca and they were going to Azteca Stadium.

And during the rehearsal, there were 15,000 people already there. I’m introducing Julio Cesar Chávez for a rehearsal and they were still worked up about it. The stadium itself was amazing, because to walk on the field, you had to go through a fair amount of security. There was a moat that divided the stands where over 100,000 people could watch the fight, and the floor or the field was where the other people would [sit]. And in the moat were German Shepherd dogs and officers with guns, so they were ready for any potential problems.
