Show 70 of the Sweet Science weekly national radio program is to be dedicated to a tribute to the great Australian Aboriginal middleweight hero Dick Blair. Blair, originally Richard Phillips, was part of a fighting family of middleweight brothers from Fingal in Tweed Heads in NSW and after turning professional in 1964 he won the Australian middleweight title in 1968. Dick retired in 1975 with 85 bouts to his name and the impressive record of 46-31-5. Notable opponents included Trevor Christian, Mick Croucher, Charkey Ramon, Trevor Thornberry and Jim Brown.

Dick celebrated his 70th birthday this year and is a respected elder of the Aboriginal community, splitting his time between Tweed Heads and Redfern where he is ordained as Pastor Richard Phillips.

Tune in to hear Dick talk about his boxing career, his preaching experiences in Redfern and his work with the Aboriginal legal service.

Guests on the show include leading boxing journalist Tony Pritchard-Nobbs, former opponents Jim Withers (Brown) and Alan Moore.

Hey Ippy,

Mate get stuck into the old shows in the archive section! I've been trying to get Patrick onto it for a while and now it's happening. There were some great shows that many people probably missed out on.

I've listened from day one but missed the odd show.

I've heard it when I'm down the coast, but i'm unsure of the frequency up in Brissy. Usually catch some on the net when I remember.
