Luis Franco has joined Gary Shaw. IBF have him ranked at number 14 in the 126 pound division. The plan is a title fight in 2011.

Not sure the word I'm looking for; descent, heritage, nationality. One of those 3 I think. But Joey's parents are Cuban so I count him as one. Much like how some people in here keep up with Peter Quillin because he has a Cuban parent. . . Glendy's fight got canceled.

Joey Hernandez won by 2nd round TKO.

And decent and heritage both count.

So he is Cuban.

Richard Abril won by UD. He won some regional title but I don't know which one.

Luis Ortiz won by TKO in the 8th.

Inocente Fiss (not Fiz, Fiss) won by UD.

Yordenis Ugas won by UD.

Damn, he stopped Zack Page? Now that's a statement! We want... no, Demand the video NOW! BTW, is he also trained by John David Jackson? JDJ is a great new genearation / old school trainer, a southpaw expert and a lefty himself, just about the perfect choice for Ortiz at the pros.

Don't like that Ugas weighed over 147 and didn't stop his foe. He better keep it together, he's got serious talent.

The co main-event showcased Cuban heavyweight Luis “El Mercedes” Ortiz (4-0, 3 KO’s) against Zach Page (21-31-2) in an 8-round bout. Ortiz leveraged his superior power and speed to force Page into retreat before finishing him off 42 seconds into the 8th and final round.
Richard “El Tigre” Abril (13-2, 6 KOs) captured the WBC Latino lightweight belt with tonight’s unanimous decision victory over game Jose “El Gallo” Reyes at the Hard Rock Live in Hollywood, FL. Reyes falls to 23-9 with 8 KOs. The taller Abril controlled the action with solid right hands catching Reyes as he vainly charged to close the distance. Referee Frank Gentile issued the first of many warnings to Abril for holding behind the head to begin the first round. Despite Gentile’s warnings to both fighters in the first, fourth, eighth and ninth rounds, “El Tigre” showed good speed and accuracy considering his recent 10 month layoff away from the ring. Reyes fought back valiantly in the middle rounds, landing a flush right hand which snapped Abril’s head back to close the ninth.. Unfortunately, it was too little too late as Abril regrouped to win the final round. The three judges scored it 99-91, 97-93 and 98-92 for Abril.Rising Cuban welterweight prospect Innocent Fiz (4-0, 2 KO’s) continued his winning ways by unanimous decision victory over experienced vet Jose Angel Roman (11-28-5, 5 KO’sxxx2008 Cuban bronze medalist, Yordenis Ugas (5-0, 3 KO’s) dominated Anthony “Psycho” Woods ( 7-14, 3 KO’s)with a four round unanimous decision . All three judges scored the bout 40-36 for Ugas

Nah he's not trained by John David Jackson. I think that'd be a great combination though. John David Jackson has Ugas looking unbelievable!. . . About the Ugas/Woods fight, you can't blame Ugas for not being able to stop Woods. I know when a Boxer backs up a lot he's labeled a runner, but what do you label a Boxer that literally does run the whole bout? I think Woods studied his gameplan for this fight from the last few rounds of DeLaHoya/Trinidad haha! I mean he was even worse than De La Hoya. He was running circles around the ring the whole fight. Ugas just kept it real cool. Trapped him quite a few times and landed clean punches. Almost stopped him every time there was an exchange. Never lost his patience. Woods tried the occasional hit and run but nothing worked. I will give Woods credit for one thing, he was good at getting the hell outta there lol. Sometimes you see the agresser get frustrated in these type of situations but Ugas just handled it like it was nothing. Passed with flying colors!

Man I can't remember the coaches name. I've seen him a million times too. The same guy trains Ortiz, Rodriguez, Fiss, & I THINK he has Consuegra too. . . Anyway, Ortiz looked great. The guy fights like a mix between Aaron Pryor, James Toney, & Muhammad Ali. Zack Page was game but Luis Ortiz really played the role of bully. I love his style. He's a defensive fighter that moves forward. (Does that even make sense? lol.) He hunted Zack down completely avoiding punishment and dished it out quite nicely. The thing about Luis Ortiz is, he's just straight up gifted. It must be really hard to mount a gameplan against him, because he doesn't show any weaknesses. Although, he is not very crowd pleasing. His fight got the most boos of any last night, but I consider myself a hardcore boxing fan. I loved his fight!
