Default Mike McCallum...If he had a chance...

Johnthomas1 brought this up at the end of a Duran thread. What is everyone's opinion if McCallum would have gotten a chance at the fabulous four...Leonard,Duran,Hearns, and Hagler.
I remember McCallum winning the WBA junior middle title against Sean Mannion, when Duran vacated to fight to pursue a fight with Hearns. McCallum and Hearns both fought out of the Kronk gym at the time. After McCallum didn't get the Duran fight, he split with Steward....Revisionist history everybody problably knows
What would have happened if the young McCallum at that time (yes he was young at one time, although it never seemed like it) Got the chance at Duran first? .... At the time, If memory serves....Leonard was in the first of many retirements, Duran just finished 15 rounds with Hagler, Hearns was in his prime at Junior middle, and Marvelous just finished up Mustafa Hamsho a second time and was slowing up just a little.
Poor Mike, the timing just wasn't quite right

He would have had a chance against all of them, his best being against Hearns. The guy was seriously avoided.

McCallum was far bigger than all of them, with the exception of Hagler (and, in a way, Hearns).

Just an interesting factor in these matchups.

Mcallum and Hearns would have been great at 154 , I think they were both at their very best at that weight. Either man could have won , McCallum was so crafty , the knockout of Don Curry is one of my favorites ever. McCallum was probably too big and prime for Duran at that weight , and at any of them weights McCallum fought at. Leonard and McCallum would be really hard to pick , Leonards fast single shots and movemnt against McCallums skills and ring generalship. Leonard might win , but McCallum didnt fight below 154 , so that is the lowest weight the fight could take place and McCallum might be too good at that weight for Leonard. Hagler would probably beat McCallum in a classic which would be at middleweight.

But Duran is better than them all p4p of all-time

Once McCallum's body shots slow Ray down to fighting off the
ropes, then Leonard is in serious trouble.

At 154lbs, Ray knew this, so the fight never happened.
