He bottled it , your in against a former World champion who has an iron chin..........your main asset is power and it looks like that isn't going to be enough on its own this time . Word going round is that Martinez is a little more limited than the Dunne appearance showed and he was looking for a way out and got it .

Why would he bottle from a guy who's shot and hasn't fought for over 2 years?

The guys 21 and could still be growing Into a weight class.

Not necessarily , he had promised to retire for good if he had lost to Kiko . Now there is the chance he will continue for longer(then again he might still just give it up) .

Now I realise fighters have failed to make weight and then been able to make that weight at a later date , but since Martinez plain refused to shed 1 1/2 lbs he must have been totally dry already(doubt it tbh) and thus the likelyhood of him ever fighting again at 122(in that scenario) is extremely small .

It was a non-title fight IMO wayne should have just said sod it and fought. It was only 1 1/2 pounds.

a limited, mindless post. See what happened to Diego Corrales when he let JLC come in over and not have to drain a bit.

Things are a bit clearer now , the bout was made at 8 stone 12 lbs or 124 lbs lbs , which is half way between Super Bantamweight and Featherweight .

Wayne came in at 120 lbs( below the Super Bantamweight 122 lb limit) , Kiko came in at 1 3/4 lbs above the agreed limit for the fight or 125 3/4(so he barely made Featherweight) and refused to shed anymore .

I think Wayne vowed not to fight at Featherweight again after the Harrison bout and that's what he essentially would of been doing if he accepted for the fight to go ahead . Only that not only would he be fighting a Featherweight , he'd be at Super Bantamweight himself . 5 3/4 lbs is just too much at these weights .

If Kiko does genuinely have problems with the weight he could be in serious trouble , he is only 5'5 and power doesn't always travel up well in weight .

However I think it's more likely he didn't want to make weight .
Apparently only 1,000 tickets sold , maybe the promoters wanted Martinez to come in heavy as they were hoping for 5-6,000 .

Disapointing that we will not get to see the fight but it may be a blessing that we do not get to see Wayne take a long hard beating before getting stopped.
