Default Elevating status of Australian Title

Wouldn't it be good if the WBC WBA IBO and IBF would only allow national champs to fight for there titles. This way you would need to get an aussie title before you could progress to regional, Commonwealth and World titles. It would mean we would see the best fight each other in Aus before they moved on, Once a regional title had been one the Aus Title would become vacant and then the next best would be on the way. much better fights in Aus and some prestige back in the Aussie Title

It'll never happen due to sanctioning fees not coming in. End of thread.

Ced.. That angle has been posted a few times before. Unfortunately it will always lead to the same corner- Regional Titles are holding favour over the once highly valued Aussie title.

It's a sad fact, considering the history of Oz champs.

Whoa!! Not so fast Ced. Maybe an incentive could be added by the ANBF??

Something along the lines of the Lonsdale Belt perhaps? Something to provide some extra colour to the National crown.

Buggered if I know what can be implimented to encourage locals to defend the Aussie crown more often. Rather than relinquishing in order to capture a Pan-Asian-Youth-Federlatino-African-Whatever Crown.

In a nutshell Sox, The body that holds the ranking (OPBF or whatever) demands a sum of money (Sanctioning fee),,,say $3000,,, to declare they are fighting for the title.

A senior World boxing org, like WBO recognises the winner & gives him a rating.
If & when the time comes to fight for the Orgs title, they have to cough up more cash as another sanctioning fee.
It's a collusive rort, that's what it is,
Hope this helps.

Yeh I figured as much, it has to be a rort, the rankings and shit fights give hints as to what's going on.
Thanks Rodin.

your post sounds good in theory but as you know if you have two massive aussie prospects in the one weight division promoters will want to keep them apart. a defeat early on in a pro career could seriously effect someone's progression.

i accept the integrity of your post but there's no harm in keeping guys apart either. i think its about having a fine balance between moving a fighter on but protecting him also and unfortunatley the effect of this is that the national titles can suffer.

Still a great idea, even if it has been suggested before Ced. In fact, such a good idea it'd catch on in most other sports.

But boxing - in the seriously ****ed state it's in...

....forget it!
