I unfortunately have paid to watch Witherspoon "perform" in the ring. People here need a reality check. He had some tools but was an inconsistent and ultimately underwhelming fighter. Such is the level of delusion here that scrubs from one of the weakest eras of the division now dispatch one of the very best heavies of the past 40 year with ease. Obviously, it offers little guidance that similar estimations have been made of so many reigning champions over the past hundred + years.

Seamus, I have to agree with you on this one, I think this was a weak an unmotivated era and Witherspoon could be the poster boy....I think one of the reasons Holmes did so well is that he was always in shape (an odd thing for this era) and was carefully managed and navigated. The fact that Michael Spinks could win a title in his 1st fight as a heavyweight and being the 1st light-heavyweight Champion to do so, should say something about the 80's (Page,Tubbs,Witherspoon,Smith, were an unmotivated bunch and I think this is one of the weakest era's but that just my viewpoint

and lets not pretend that wlad is a much better fighter then he was when he was younger, as a younger fighter he threw more combos and was more aggressive and athletic. the new Stewart wlad uses more of a jab and grab approach (with an occasional right hand) to make sure he doesn't get nailed on that glass chin. take a good puncher like spoon and I don't think wlad will win.
People always say that wlad is so much better then before. part of this is because he hasn't faced very good fighters lately and Witherspoon would definitely be the best of the klitschkos opponents.

I agree Mr. Magoo. Based on atheleticism alone, I'd favour Wlad and Vitali to win on points but not without the possibility of being dropped once or twice by Spoon's overhand right.

The only A+ performance Tim had was the early ko of Tillis. And how far did Tillis go downhill after that Weaver bout? Everything else is or was lackluster including that first Smith fight.

To beat Wlad Klitschko, a guy is going to have to have better form than that. And I sure don't think his cross armed defense is going to work negating a jab and he's wide open for that short left hook Wlad throws.
