Sorry about that, if I didn't phrase it properly.

In that photo, Sonny Liston looks to be in 'superior condition'

Dr. Raphael Turgeon, stated later, that Sonny was a 'perfect athlete'
The only minor observation, his reflexes were below average for a man
with an age of 33 (Sonny Listons claimed age).

His reflexes were equal to a conditioned athlete with an age closer to
37 to 40.

i remember reg gutteridge telling a story that an assebled throng of reporters had questioned listons age, and one claimed to have a copy of a birth certificate that showed liston to be nearer 40 (at the time)...liston simply stared at the guy and said 'well, my momma says im 32, i hope your not calling my momma a ****in liar...'...end of press conference haha

reg said liston had the best sense of humour out of all the hw guys he met..

big G,

I think the perception is, that Sonny didn't age well.
Too much booze, and late nights, when not in training.

If Sonny was 40, (May 1965), that would have made him 28 at the 1953
Chicago Golden Gloves.
Checking out his earlier photo's, he looks to be a young man of 25/26 in Chicago.

I would put him at age 38 in May 1965.

The doctor who examined John L. Sullivan prior to his fight against James Corbett. I think his last name was Sargent, or somehing like that.

Though Dr. Raphael Turgeon claimed Sonny Lston was in perfect condition.

Sonny's own personal physician Dr. Robert Bennett claimed that Sonny was
not in good physical condition, and had developed chronic bursitis in his left shoulder joint, in November 1964.
