He regressed worse than anyone could have imagined.

He looked so ****ing bad against last time out that if I hadn't seen it with my own eyes you'd have never convinced me that he held a win over Eddie Chambers.

What about Povetkin's broken hand, doesn't that explain the subpar performance? Also, what in particular did you see that was bad? I'm interested.

He's about 30% as aggressive as he was. Both hand are under utilized. He's thinking too much (and it isn't paying off) and just stagnating in there.

I agree he looked terrible. However, this is only one performance and sometimes too much can be read into one performance. I think the key point you make is that it did look like he was overthinking it, rather than systematically attacking as he did earlier in his career. Atlas or any other trainer would do well to keep Povetkin's old style but sprinkle in things like a bit more head movement or a bob and weave (sound familiar??) to get him on the inside against taller fighters. When you take his aggression away, you take away his greatest asset. I also think that one or two fights isn't really enough of a body of work to pass total judgment.

I loved Povetkin's left hooking against Oruh. Povetkin also showed nice handspeed and excellent combination punching. The downside is that Povetkin did get hit cleanly with powershots to the head, in addition to absorbing left hooks to the body. The leaky defense could ruin Povetkin against upper tier opponents who can hit.

To compensate for the defensive flaws, Povetkin either has to learn better, quicker, and more dynamic upper body movement (especially bobbing and weaving), or he has to put together a non-stop offensive that shuts his opponents down. Given Povetkin's lack of genuine knockout power, I doubt the second alternative is viable.

What did you guys think about Povetkin's broken hand against Firtha? Could that explain his shoddy performance?

With both hands, I think he could have stopped Firtha, just like he stopped his previous 4 opponents under Atlas. All Povetkin needs is step up the competition to shut up the haters and get a strength and conditioning coach.

The most important thing for Povetkin is to get back in the ring ASAP, no more layoffs.

People had been telling Povetkin to fire Atlas ever since he hired him! Atlas can talk, but he sure can't train! He destroyed a lot of fighters! Smart move by Povetkin, but a lot of time was completely wasted!

And the quote has got to be bullshit.
Of course the quote was facetious. It is stupefying that anyone would fail to understand this. The whole thread was a spoof based on news reports that really did come out that day.

This is bullshit.

Povetkin and Atlas has formed a bond, as a matter of fact POVETKIN personally sought Atlas to train him.

Whatever problems Kalle Sauerland has with Atlas, I am sure Povetkin sides with Teddy.

Apparently, it is not Povetkin but the management that is fed up with Atlas.

I DISAGREE TOTALLY...........IF IT WASNT FOR ATLAS MOORER WOULDA LOST TO HOLYFIELD IN THE 1ST FIGHT.............AND IF MICHAEL MOORER WOULDA LISTEN TO TEDDY ATLAS AGAINST FOREMAN ....KEEP MOVING TO YOUR RITE MICHAEL...WHAT DOES MOORER DO....STARTS MOVING TO HIS LEFT AND FOREMAN KNOCKS HIM OUT WIT A STRAIGHT RIGHT HAND RIGHT DOWN THE PIPE........POVETKIN SHOULD KEEP ATLAS.............GREAT TRAINER

So what's the story here? Have Povetkin's management got rid of Atlas?
