Default Benny Leonard June 26 - July 27 1922. 3 championship fights!

On June 27 1922. Benny Leonard faced Jack Brittion for his welterweight championship. Leonard lost by DQ. In one of the sports most controversial molments.

Eight days latter On July 4 1922Leonard stopped Rocky Kansas in the 8th round.

To end things Leonard won a 12 round newspaper decision over Lew Tendler.

I don't know if that is the best month long stretch in boxing but that is pretty darn good.
The only real blemish is the Britton fight. I recall reding an acount that the ref had reached 9 when Leonard hit Britton, but I don't know if that is true.

Billy Gibson ,Leonards manager, Told Benny that "you can't win tonight",in his bout with Jack Britton. Leonard was shocked by Gibson's remarks just
prior to leaving his dressing room. This was reported by the trainer for
Leonard, later on. Leonard knew the danger of crossing the mob at that time. He follwed orders, and in the 13th rd,Leonard dropped Britton, and
'hit" Britton while he was down, and was disqualified by the referee.
I, believe Leonards trainer for that bout was Mannie Seamon...
