How much did he make for Ali II? I really find it difficult to believe that he would have made that much fighting someone who lost to a nobody earlier that year.

In 1972 for the Ali II bout, Jerry Quarry's fight purse was $150,000 plus $25,000
training expenses. Jerry originally turned own a $100,000 offer, when he found out Ali was getting $550,000. To make the fight, Muhammad Ali kicked back $50,000 of his purse to Jerry, so Jerry could get $150,000. The Danny MAC fight was originally scheduled for March, but Jerry had to postpone the bout. Then it was re-scheduled, but Jerry took the Ali bout, as it was more publicity, plus his brother was offered a title bout with Bob Foster too. Last edited by Il Duce; 02-13-2011 at 03:36 PM. |
