I'm not a huge fan of either Klitschko, but it really pisses me off when people bring this matter up and give Vitali shit for it, everyone was coming out of the woodwork to say "oh, he's a quitter, he's a wimp". **** you, alright. He's a professional boxer, you don't know the pain of a rotator cuff. Maybe he regrets it and thinks of it as a foolish decision, he could've stood up for another 3 rounds and won the fight like Merchant said, but he shouldn't catch flak for it and be called a quitter. His mental fortitude was proven in the Lennox Lewis fight, and it's not as if Byrd got away scot free. This is absolute nonsense and should be dropped now, we're past it and he's past it.

No it wasn't. He had an ageing, fat champion in front of him and he had half his face hanging off and couldn't get the KO he needed to win the fight due to his safety first style. If he had mental fortitude he wouldn't have finished the fight with an eyegina and squealing like a bitch.

Vitali has said before he was shocked at the backlash he got from "quitting" in that fight since he knew it as the term "retiring". This heart stigma we have is not extended to the world and if anything Vitali has proven himself and his heart since then.

That makes no sense. That's about killer instinct, not mental fortitude, and he didn't crumble when the eye was cut, he fought on hard and strong. He had a style, he wasn't playing it safe. You'd be a fool to trade bombs with Lennox at any stage of your career.

I guess you saw the fight differently to me then, the cut changed everything and totally swung the fight in Lewis's favour, and if VITLAY thought it was going to go 12 rounds with that cut then he was delusional - he was lucky to make it to the end of the 6th with it if truth be told.

If he had the mental strength you speak of then he'd have gone out there and got the KO like Marciano always did when he had to. Marciano didn't have a glass heart though I guess.

If you watch the 9th round, Vitali is still throwing with both arms and looks comfortable. He's even throwing with both arms in the closing seconds. He looks fine.

Then out of nowhere he quits like a bitch. Was it that Chris Byrd had just out landed him in the 9th and refused to lay down? Did he just straight up quit or was there something more sinister here?

I guess the punches Byrd landed at the end of the 9th made Vitali say no mas. You can guarandamntee that if Byrd didn't out land him in the 9th he wouldn't have quit. Byrd refused to fold, and bully boy Vitali didn't like it. He took the easy way out and disgracefully quit. I agree he didn't throw it, he just saw the easy way out. It was a disgrace.
