I agree pavlik should get it! On the other hand mayweather won a good fight against oscar but instead of fighting hatton he should of fought the #1 contender at WW it's only right after all it was for that title if he would of had won then he would of deserved fighter of year hands down!!! But pavlik gets the nod in my opinion!!!!!!!

Unless you are putting Hatton as equals with those two, don't use them as a comparison.

As a Pavlik fan, I would like to believe that Kelly's explosion onto the world scene was more impressive than Floyd's year. However - Floyd was involved in back-to-back largest fights of the year. The De La Hoya/Mayweather fight kickstarted a great year for boxing and Mayweather was at least 1/2 responsible for that.

Then he won against a guy that everybody knew he was going to win against, regardless of who they wanted to win, and a guy that couldn't hang with any of the top guys at 147.

Not to mention it was a guy who hasn't faced a pure boxer in years.

Think about it though, who could Hatton beat at 147?

Cotto, Williams, Mosley, Margarito, Clottey, and Cintron would all likely beat him.

Margarito is too big and too strong, Mosley and Cotto would likely outbox him, he wouldn't be able to touch Williams, Cintron would tag him coming in as Ricky comes straight in, and Clottey would beat him at his own game.

So, essentially Floyd beat the easiest possible opponent. An opponent who had negligable experience against boxers, doesn't use the jab, comes in straight foward, and has a 6 inch reach disadvantage.

Yet, Floyd deserves to be fighter of the year?

If you look at Pavlik and Cotto, they both overcame adversity and were both underdogs going into their fights, and WON, convincingly, especially in Pavlik's case.

And those of you that are going to cry about how Cotto didn't beat Mosley; Mosley himself admitted that Cotto beat him.

Deal with it.
Boy stop all this hating

If being in the 2 largest fights in a year is the main reason you think Floyd should win, then I guess you also feel DLH has been robbed of a few "Fighter if the Year" titles as well.

I would be inclined to give it to Mayweather, but almost by default. In terms of the actual fights and what was expected, I don't think Mayweather did enough. But then again, no one else did either.

Let me get this straight, Floyd needs to beat PW to be recognized as a great fighter ........he's the best fighter today.

Margarito punked his ass out and he fought a guy that can't beat any of the top welters for the what........oh, the Welterweight Title.

And did I say Floyd didn't have skills?

No, even I recognize him as PFP #1, but he doesn't deserve to be fighter of the year.
