Criticize Jersey Joe Walcott's Style...

The main flaw with his style is that it was not suited to the era. Forcing the fight was verry heavily rewarded in scoring then and this cost Walcott on a couple of ocasions.

I saw only one significant flaw in Jersey Joe's style. He tended to showboat and lose focus at critical moments, which got him knocked out a couple of times. Other than that he was brilliant and a helluva lotta fun to watch. I'd recommend that any student boxer study Walcott's techniques for defense, counterpunching and footwork.

I can't say anything bad about his style I love watching his fights. although in the first Louis he should of got the decision maybe if he hadn't been so sure he could coast at the end and just kept following the gameplan he would have won.

One thing I don't like is the way his feet would cross over each other sometimes, particularly from moving left to right. He didn't do it a lot, but he did cross his left foot over his right a few times, and to me that's a no-no.

When you do that, you're momentarily off balance and not really in a good position to defend or attack.

Walcott did this to trick the other opponent to make them think he was off balance and then BOOM......there comes the sneaky right!

if u watch walcott crossing over his part of his style, but he does it so fast and unpredictable no one knows what to do or when its coming. he usually does it when hes far enough away from the danger zone. so its safe and unpredictable.
