at times, foreman is his first incarnation was sloppy as shit trying to finish the job. course with his raw power, sloppy still got the job done quite a bit

lewis was almost too methodical for his own good and baring exceptions like golota and ruddock, really didn't go for the kill enough. more instinct than skill but still

lew jenkins may deserve a mention. for all his power (and amazing power he had) from what i've read he was too undisciplined and out of shape to get it done when he should have

Lewis is a good answer and not one i would have thought of right away. He was always a safety first fighter in many ways, rack up the points and wear his man down with jab. However I think he always had the ability to be a good finisher like he showed in the Briggs,ruddock and Golota fights. Its just the style he fought in usually wouldnt allow him to gdet reckless or wild.

yup, agreed it's more his style. it was never more evident than the tyson fight which was BEGGING for a conclusive ending 4 rounds before he went for the kill

Oscar Rankins. Everyone who fought him remarked on his deadly punch. He just never could seal the deal often.

Red Bruce. Ditto

For all the talk of Joe Choynski's power he should have more KOs

Jermain Taylor. Very good punch (okay, not great) but not a capitalizing guy. Hurt the sturdy chins of Pavlik and Froch, got knocked out both times. Welterweight title challenger Delvin Rodriguez is another good recent guy. He's very hurtful and damaging but his knockout ratio indicates only modest power. But, maybe that falls under temperament issues more than skills.

Yep. When he has his opponent hurt he get´s a bit wild and inaccurate. Needs quite a few punches. Not the worst finisher ever but finishing an opponent is not his best quality. This is my impression at least.

Lyle is another ... it's not as easy as bad finishers ... against fighters with different skill sets some lack the speed or talent to land the huge punch enough like Lyle against a Young as example ... Firpo is another terrific example ...
