Of course it was a risk taking the fight at welterweight, but that was the only way they were going to get Floyd in the ring for a multi-million pound fight.

Before the fight a number of people tipped Hatton and gave him a chance - there's no shame in that at all - no-one knew how Floyd would react to his constant pressure, no-one knew if Floyd could avoid Hatton's body blows. Plus Floyd isn't the biggest, hardest hitting welterweight in the world, and had prepared by going on a TV show.

Also Mayweather had not fought anyone exactly like Hatton before - and fighters who applied pressure in the past, like Castillo and De la Hoya, enjoyed a bit of success.

I didn't think Hatton would win, but I could understand people's arguments in his favour.
Exactly, good point.

Indeed the broadsheet writers are the worst when it comes to boxing. You get the feeling they hardly ever watch boxing at all and when a big fight comes up they watch a couple of tapes and act like boxing specialists, throwing a little bit of technical jargon about turning over your knuckles and other stuff they think sounds clever and informed.

The guy in the Observer seemed to think Hatton was just going to walk in there and batter Floyd into submission. As though Floyd had nothing that could possibly trouble Hatton's genius fighting style.

They should stick to writing about cricket.

so you think hatton and graham should have gone into the fight stating they didn't think mayweather could be beaten?

Are you for real all good fghters number 1 asset is faith of course hatton and his team thought he could win imo there down fall was thinking floyd could not fight inside and hatton would be stronger.
As for the press and TV welcome to the hype machine thats what they do. I think the great thing about the uk is love the under dog and we always support are sports people. When you have as much pride and heart has hatton has on the right knight with a bit of luck it could have been possable

to be honest: anyone who truely believed that hatton was gonna win in a fair and square fight have very little boxing knowlege imo.

the only chance i gave hatton was that if pbf broke both hands........and even then, i would have picked floyd. the different in class was way too obvious.

I had Hatton down as a very live underdog and I stick with that appraisal...

Hatton and Graham did a great job, so good in fact the fight was not a million miles away from pick-em by bell time.

Hatton was always at least a 5/1 underdog, so it is a great credit that Graham and Hatton spun the public IMO. I hope they were on percentage of PPV sales.

I think they genuniely thought they could win. I thought he could win but after all that pbf showed what he was capable of beating a prime hatton. Hatton I believe will comeback stronger and he will be a different animal at LWW.

What sort of a prize fighter would get into the ring believing they couldn't win. And beforehand tell the general public that.

He many not be the best of boxers but one thing that Hatton does come across is that he is one of the most sincere.
