In a bygone era boxers didn't worry about fat and muscle, they just got in good enough shape to fight 15 rounds. If you get in that kind of shape, you won't have to worry about being mistaken for the Goodyear blimp.

And thats not even the point. The point is I have a 4-5 kg free zone to do what I want with, and I want to make sure that I use it to increase my power through purely muscle gain and not just 'take it easy' and put on whatever weight comes. |

An 800 cal surplus is going to bring a pretty good amount of fat gain on a bulk. The slower you do it, the more LBM you'll put on without additional fat. Aim for a 200-500 cal/day surplus.

and just to make things more complicated, I'm set to debut on the 25th... torn between whether to try my luck against a 69 kg fighter at my 65 kg or stuff my face and hope it doesn't affect my performance.

First fight, don't worry about your weight.
Train hard, and eat well. Don't try and overeat or anything. 25th of what, June? That's 10 days away, you probably won't gain 10lbs in ten days and if you do I doubt it will help you in the sport of boxing! |
