Keep eating left hooks. You'll learn soon enough.

Seriously though, why not just hold your right hand near your right cheekbone and just throw jabs at the air or a heavy bag. Nothing but jab after jab until it becomes natural.

I can't see why this is an issue if you have an ounce of coordination.

gumbo is right, no drills just throw thousands of jabs until your right hand doesn't move from your cheek. its all about practise, where your feet move, where your hands land/stay. Just put the hours in and you'll get it.

My trainer used to tie it around my head with a rope.

TOUCH your right hand to your face (i teach a narrow stance so i suggest touching your nose/lips) and don't move it. that's only way to know if it's in position, unless you're looking at a mirror or having someone else tell you if it moves (but you don't have someone telling you or have a mirror to look at while you're in the ring boxing).

take a small towel or cloth and hold it between your elbow and your body. the elbow will move before your hand leaves your face (sure your hand can drop straight forwards while your elbow is there but it's uncomfortable and you'll feel it happening. everytime that cloth drops add ten push ups (1st=10, 2nd=20, 3rd=30, etc). you'll either get better or stronger.

find anything to hold against your chin with the glove, like a ball, or a wallet if youve got nothing else on you, when the wallet drops you know your right hand did aswell, its all about feel. what boxingscience said is good too.

take off your right hand glove and put it between your elbow and stomach

keep your right hand glued to the side of your face and keep your hand bent facing the inside of your face

now start jabbing away at the bag and make sure that the glove does not move AT ALL.

itll help you keep both your elbow tucked in to guard your body and protect the side of your face from counters to your jab.

im no expert but this helped me a lot.

gl!

If you watch Andre Ward and Bernard Hopkins, they tend to raise their right hand to the side of their head so their thumb is temple-height with each jab. Been working on doing this, it definitely feels good and seems to add coordination to the punch itself.

From there you can catch a counter jab, and your hand is already in position to block a hook.

And this is really simple to work on. You just do it a lot. On the bags, in sparring, whatever.

Just get a bud to catch your jab and throw back a punch everytime, all you really need to do...

Eddie Futch always had Riddick Bowe touching his right hand to his face right before a round started to remind him that he should keep that hand up. He would touch the side of his head all the time, before each round of sparring even. This will be a constant reminder for you to keep your right hand up. Good luck bro!

Good advice for remembering form. When you get fatigued in battle, form can slacken.

If you right hand is going lose when you throw a jab in practice though, you do need to drill badly.

Applied fundamentals...being aware of how you are operating is important. It may make you straight-up predictable to start with, but is a required base initially. Build off it!

Hard way? Spar a guy with a mean left hook. Seriously though do it on the bag. Be RIGID with yourself. Better yet get a buddy to yell at you. You should work MULTIPLE jab only rounds regularly. The stronger the rear arm? The better your chances to maintain discipline with it.

I honestly think it is more of a fatigue issue then discipline. Keeping your hands up is usually directly correlated to the fitness of the fighter. The way Boxing pushes the body? "Knowing" and "doing" seem to be almost unrelated words if the fitness isn't there.
