Golovkin is the best middleweight in the world by far. I would have to pick Golovkin to beat Pirog...............

How do you know GG is a monster?

He hasn't done anything monstrous in his 7 year career.

But he hadn't any opportunities.

Pirog's a classic what-if story, but his frustrates me more than many. When HBO and Golden Boy were cozy, he was blackballed for knocking out Jacobs. Once it was clear that relationship was souring and he gets another shot on the network lined up, he gets injured with a career-threatening back injury. Just sucks for Pirog, but I'd have loved to see a healthy Dmitry fight GGG.

No, not everyone 'knows' this.

Sergio came late to the game and hasn't made that much $$$$.

He's angling for a Floyd payday. If that doesn't materialize (and it probably shouldn't, unless it's at 160), look for Martinez/Golovkin, and Martinez should be a slight favourite.

I also think he will fight GGG.

However despite coming up quite late, I understand he's quite comfortable financially (with other interests, sponsorships etc), though of course the ideal would be to maximise income in his last coupla fights. However -

1) Maravilla and his team have publicly stated that they will 'stay loyal to HBO'.

2) I think HBO will pay a lot to get GGG a shot at the lineal title.

3) Martinez has stated he's willing to fight GGG, and with retirement apparently beckoning and future paydays less of a concern (I'd expect GGG to be his last fight), I expect him to be more concerned in legacy terms to not be seen to have avoided the young pretender.

However , unless Maravilla comes back from his layoff looking rejuvenated (probably at 154 - Cotto's been mentioned) I don't see him as a favourite against Golovkin. He barely scraped past Murray in what many saw as a draw, and Murray brings neither the pressure or the power of Golovkin.

I also happen to think that part of Maravillas interest in a JMW fight is so as not to put the lineal title (his biggest bargaining chip for the GGG pay-day) at risk.

I've said for a while... Pirog can beat GGG.. Slick enough, smart, gives angles and can punch...

Superior boxing skills.

Faster.

The only thing he needs to do is avoid getting KO'd.

Pirog is as irrelevant at middleweight these days as Valuev is at heavyweight
lets talk about GGG vs active fighters not retired ones
