Default Re: Adrien Broners win over Demarco is overrated

It is overrated. Demarco is a C level fighter. However it was still an impresive win over the LW champ. I would be interested in a Broner-Rios or Broner-Gamboa fight. Fight someone who is exceptional at something, whether that be skill, power, chin. Demarco wasn't exceptional at anything, he wore down a "fragile" Linares who was boxing his ears off prior to that.

That said the way he dominated a champion like that shows he's obviously levels above it, and maybe top 10 p4p in terms of ability.

IMO, Demarco is a solid B+ fighter. He's a above average all-around, but nothing really remarkable about him. He was only champion because the absence of opposition.

Broner had a convincing performance vs a B+ fighter then....
in my book, that quantifies him as an A caliber fighter anyhow

Uh, no...

****ing Cornelius Bundrage is in the history books as a world titlist. It isn't like a C-grader can't achieve the feat.

Linares also isn't what he was purported to be when he first came down the pipeline. He was also handily outboxing DeMarco through eight and a half rounds or something like that, in 100% control for every single minute until he started to wear down.

Beating Linares through sheer patience & allowing attrition to take its natural course (and outhustling a shopworn Kid Diamond) and acquiring a belt under gimme circumstances doesn't mark Tony as some legit top flight lightweight.

It's true that Broner won against an average boxer but Valeros was really good. I liked more Valeros than Gamboa and I like more Broner than him.

Demarco is a good fighter & i gave broner credit but some people are really overrating the bigger broner. He's no corales or even castillo.

truth. only thing is Broner might be a bit too big and strong for Gamboa now, they're clearly not the same size. Gamboa is amazing though and better than Broner, my fave fighter and one of the best p4p int he sport, i just hope he gets back in the mix of things and gets some big fights to prove it.

It's a good win. But ppl are goin overboard with it. When a boxer cranks it up and produces an excitin KO, it's easy for jaws to start droppin. The manner of the win was more impressive than the actual win in itself.
