Bentt is a good call. Before he beat Morrison his only real claim to "fame" was that he was a highly touted amateur who got creamed in his pro debut.

Joe Bugner didn't have an extensive amateur career, but there was a buzz around him before he turned pro due to his youth, size, backstory and distinctive look. His non-descript opponent ended up getting off the canvas to land a hail mary KO.

1984 Finals: Defeated Timothy McGee of the Yonkers Police Athletic League (RSC-1)
1985 Finals: Defeated Alex Stewart of the 2nd Floor Uptown Gym
1986 Finals: Defeated Webster Vinson of the Bed-Stuy Boys Association
1988 Finals: Defeated Ike Padilla of the Yonkers Police Athletic League
Won the 1984, 1986, and 1987 U.S. Amateur Heavyweight Championship

Lost to Ray Mercer at the 1988 Olympic trials, and again at the box-offs. Bentt won the right to fight on the Jamaican Olympic boxing team but refused when he was told that he would have to give up his U. S. citizenship.

Bentt turned professional under Emanuel Steward, and was knocked out in the first round by Jerry Jones in his pro debut. Bentt maintained that neither he nor Steward knew Jones was a southpaw.
