Default Re: Who or What Got You Into Boxing ?

My uncle and dad were boxing nuts.
They got me interested in it.
We always watched the Wednesday night fights.
My uncle took me to see the Patterson-Ingo II fight on closed circuit.

Arguello, Galindez, Franklin, Corro, Antuofuermo, Hagler, Hamsho, Fletcher, Sibson, Tony Ayala, Cuevas, Mancini, Camacho, Pryor, Sanchez, prime Hearns (1984-86), Chandler, Cooney. later it was Nunn, Norris, Roy Jones (speed never goes out of fashion) and Bowe. boxing's been dead since then, a testiment to the rise in women's boxing & MMA

Zarate's fights (yecch!)

SRL, much better but eventually soured on him and his retirements, so fake & contrived

for me the ultimate experience occurred twice within five years. The first was the Tyson-Douglas fight and shortly after Taylor-Chavez even tho none of them were my favorite fighters.

the other being the Hagler Hearns fight, and just a little below was the Pryor Arguello fight
