Basically everyone he's been in there with he's wrecked. I don't know how he could be any lower than #3 considering he's never ducked anyone and has, for the most part, dominated good competition (Froch, Kessler, AA, Bika, Chad, etc.). JMM is great, no doubt, but the problem is that manny is/was overrated. He was fighting far over-the-hill fighters and looking amazing doing it. His best win (above 135) was Bradley and, while he definitively won the fight, he didn't exactly shine in so doing. And he lost to JMM at least 3 out of their 4 fights. With that in mind I don't feel the need to give JMM more props than what he actually deserves. Floyd Ward 3-5 (Any combination of Sexy/Nonito/JMM) |

I think there is a legit argument for Ward to be anywhere from 1-5 at the minute, depending on if you discount Mayweather for his lack of activity and how highly you rate going up in weight.

Anyway, JMM has the best win, Floyd has cotto and ortiz recently, Nonito has Montiel and Nishioka and ward has froch, dawson (drained) So JMM is number 1, floyd has fough near a year ago against a not so good cotto. Nonito fought a guy who was undefeated for 10 years. |

been a big fan of marquez for a long time, and always felt he would be overlooked as a modern day G thankfully he won't now - ward has done as much as he can in a much shorter time frame, but the injuries he's had are serious business, and it's not a given in my book that he will come back as easily as some may think |

Floyd was number 2. Manny was number 1 going into the 3rd fight with Marquez. JMM got robbed, then Manny got robbed, then Marquez knocked Manny the fuck out. IMO Floyd should be number 2.
Regardless, Ward's win over Dawson is inferior to Floyd's win over Cotto and Marquez's win(s) over Pacquiao. And Pacquiao's win over Bradley is probably better too (though he did just lose, although to a better fighter than anyone Ward has ever fought and might ever fight). I love Andre Ward, but he's not number 2. I expect he'll be #1 in the future. But you have a habit of ranking fighters higher than others simply because you like them better and this is a case of just that. But can somebody else please comment on the clips themselves? |
