Povektin is a solid boxer and when in shape has a chance to beat anybody in the division including Wlad. He always always wanted to fight Wlad. Teddy Atlas prevented it so his pride wouldn't be dented if Povektin lost.

According to Haye fanatics, Mr. Excitement KOs everyone inside 2... even though his HW resume is paper thin. Chris Byrd is a better win than any win on Haye's resume, yet, Haye huggers will have you believe that the result of the fight is foregone conclusion (Haye KO, of course).

Alex might've struggled with Huck, but there is no denying that Huck is a good CW with serious power who was underestimated by Povetkin and his team. Povetkin was also in a bad place during that time (switching trainers, etc.).

I don't get the hate for Povetkin, he is an undefeated gold medalist, his resume is better than most, and he fights relatively often. Plus, Alex seems like a nice guy. So, in a sense, he is complete opposite of Haye (who fights once per year and talks sh1t he can't back up) and Klits (who rip you off financially and mostly fight blown up cruisers and slow, unskilled giants), which is probably why their fans hate the guy.

I think that, at this point in time, Alex UD's old and slow Vitali but looses UD/SD to Wlad in Germany (K2 judges and ref). No shame in that. Adamek, Arreola, Banks, Haye, etc. all loose to him.

Povetkin gets too much stick for the Huck fight. Something was wrong with Povetkin that night. Povetkin dominates Huck in a rematch. The 2nd fight would go the way the first 4 rounds of the 1st fight went, with a late stoppage possible.

That is assuming Povetkin's heart is still in this. We don't know that for sure because he's only had the easy Rahman fight since then.

People hate on him because after the gold medal and impressive start to his professional career with wins over respected veterans, he has kind of wasted his talent in recent years...

Povetkin won a completely bogus title that nobody recognizes, ducked the champ for years (as a mandatory), and feasted on shit opponents while there were plenty of willing, available contenders to face. He fought Chambers in 2008, Chagaev in 2011 and Huck in 2012. Other than those opponents (whom he struggled to beat), his resume has been complete shit.

When Povetkin fights somebody like Haye, Arreola, Helenius, etc - let alone a Klitschko - we'll all be watching. But fighting ancient versions of Cedric Boswell and Hasim Rahman as a (paper) titlist just isn't gonna get it done.

He backed out of fighting Wlad more than once when he was the mandatory. Wlad was ready and willing to fight him both times. Then, after backing out the second (third?) time, he accepted the "regular" WBA belt, which was being stripped from Wlad (although Wlad was made "super champion"). How could he accept that WBA title after backing out of a fight with Wlad?

That's why he's disrespected.

He's a good fighter but if you don't show up to the press conference you won't be getting any more fans. He's got no excuses to the summer. It's either fight or getting stripped.


It's a compelling matchup and it will be the most dangerous fighter Wladimir has fought since David.
