The breakdown: Last October, Brandon “Bam Bam” Rios (31-0-1, 23 KOs) and “Mile High” Mike Alvarado (33-1, 23 KOs) assaulted each other in the ring for 6 rounds in what was a fight of the year candidate. It was an all-out war which ended in Rios’ favor via TKO. Five months later, they meet again; this time at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, NV for the WBO Junior Welterweight title vacated by Juan Manuel Marquez after moving up to fight Manny Pacquiao in December. As a fan of Brandon Rios, I was not too happy when the rematch was announced because I felt that it was a high risk/low reward type of fight. But HBO and Bob Arum wanted the rematch and by all accounts Rios’ manager, Cameron Dunkin, got Brandon a good payday to make it happen. Both fighters deserve every penny they get because the rematch will be as grueling as their first fight. Alvarado is the better boxer of the two. He has a height and reach advantage and uses the jab more effectively than Rios. During their first fight, Alvarado proved to be effective when keeping Rios at a distance with the jab and using lateral movement. However, the pressure applied by Rios proved to be too much for Alvarado to handle.

The bottom line: In a recent interview, Alvarado said that although he may try to box with Rios, the fight will surely end up being a slugfest and that does not bode well for Alvarado. Mike will try to outbox Brandon from a distance and be successful at it but only for a few rounds as in their first fight. Eventually Rios’ relentless pressure will draw Alvarado into an ‘inside’ fight and the man with the better chin, punch, and body punching ability will win the fight; Rios wins via mid-round stoppage.

Thinking it goes the distance or ends late but same outcome.
Looking for Alvarado to use his boxing a bit more early on until he is forced into a shootout & then it's the first fight all over again.

LOL at him? or With him? A loss of Bam Bam is the best thing that can happen? Why? Trilogy, it will guarantee a third fight, more draw, more money, more attention, more publicity.

The best thing that can happen is if it is an all out war, goes to twelve, and Alvarado gets awarded decision. Set up third match....With more hype... Remember first one was in the Home Depot Center in Carson, this one is in Vegas at Mandalay Bay, with only 1500 tickets left.

Imagine a 3rd, more money For every one, especially Bobfather

i believe alvarado takes this one the main reason why he lost the last fight was because he was throwing crazy amount of punches which lost its effect... he was brawling then trying to box. if he wants to win he should stick to boxing on the outside which he is not bad at....

True, but Alvarado said it himself, the fight will turn into a brawl no matter how hard he tries to "box". There is also something to be said about the mental edge Rios has over Alvarado, knowing that he was able to stop him in the past and Alvarado knowing he can be stopped.
