Default sparred a 30 lbs more than me counter-puncher today....

don't have tape, but believe me, didn't go well. I couldn't work anything off my jab (he either parried it or countered with his jab) I did block a looottt more punches today than I thought i would (1 positive to take away) and i did fight pretty slick so another positive i guess. but i did get pushed around in there a lot :/ he landed 2-4 punches scored i got maybe 1? A lot of fighting on the outside umm basically need some advise for what to do better and how to get that jab in any help GREATLY appreciated Ty

been in a similar situation and a lot of faints worked well for me also once I got inside he didn't stand a chance
trying to fight the counter puncher on the outside did not work for me neither did countering the counter punch

I find the easiest way to fight a counter puncher is simply all though it sounds like im being an obvious ass im not

only throw when you know its going to land for sure.
counter punchers i find especially hate it when you don't give them anything to counter even if it means its not a very active round/rounds

It'll be rough in the beginning but I assure you that sparring guys with a significant size/weight advantage will greatly benefit you physically and psychologically.

what was the height and reach differance like? since your the smaller guy you should have stayed on the outside and let him come forward and make the first move then try and get on the inside and work by slipping and moving.

If he is countering your jab...give him the look, push him. You have to get him to throw something other than his jab so you can counter.

Jabs, feints, and odd punch combinations.

I am normally the 30lbs larger counter-puncher.. so I dont have a ton of experience being smaller, but i know what kinda screws me up.

Doubleing up in the jab can catch them off guard; Throwing in feints, if you can get them to react it screws up their whole timing; At the start of the combinations, throw some pitty pat punches that have nothing behind them, while looking for him to react so you can counter his counter.

Body, head, body head. You raise your game tenfold just by doin that. Watchout for uppercuts tho. Slide around the ring instead of bouncing that way you'll be able to plant your feet better to sit on your punches. Move your waist more make him miss with his jab more. Focus on his body first much easier target than head. Wearem down don't ever let anyone ever **** with you bro. Have fun.
