At the end of the day it does have a socio-racial angle to it. All the rich nobs like to hang about Leander Club and get friction burns on their gay battys whilst rowing. Which they can later ask their homo mates to apply savlon cream on.

Your average hetro***ual black male will not go near these homos or be allowed anywhere near Leander nobs rowing club at Henley-on-Thames. So no chance of him catching the eye of the battyman politicians and other rich nobs who frequent these places for the filthy rich.

Yes he may be a twat but he does do considerable charity work for which he does not seek publicity. Not like a certain boxer from Bolton who was ko'd by a columbian not so long ago.

Anyhow I have submitted a petition and will post the link on a few forums. It would be great to see a boxer get a decent honour for his achievements.

He probably does not give two hoots but I think it would be interesting to see what reason they give for knocking him back. To me rowing means nothing but boxing means a lot more. To have people from a sport for the elite honoured and others from sports such as boxing not recognised at the same level is a travesity in justice and shows the bias at government level.

If a Knighthood is important to Lennox, then I hope he is given one. Rowing doesn't mean anything to me either, but winning 5 Gold Medals at the Olympics for any sport deserves a lot of respect. Unless is involves horses.

He will get one with time, imo. He's the perfect candidate. He's unlikely to go off on one in the future making a mockery of it... he's pretty level headed and sensible.

People who crave for such honours should never receive one. It is only really an honour if you get it for your achievements and not through asking the establishment for it or by giving a juicy donation to a political party.

If we go on achievments then those of Lennox are far greater than the likes of Sir Henry Cooper so why not give him a knighthood ? Again it might be to do with the elite as Henry Cooper is well in with some rich nobs who would hove lobbied for him to get a knighthood.

True, the guy is sensible, intellectually sound and level headed. As I said before people of his calbre should get life peerages.

In this case its not about boxing achievements, Cooper trancended boxing/ sport in a way Lewis never did.

Cooper done a bit of for charity but it was his popularity as a sportsman that got him the knighthood, even though he wasnt very good...

Lewis the only real British born heavyweight champion we've had since bob Fitszimmons, that is major! How many Toffs have got knighthoods for doing **** all, why the **** does Alan Sugar have a ****ing knight hood, he made the UKs 8th best computer...

Lennox Lewis should def have a knighthood.

Jeffery Archer got a peerage for bullshitting.

Like you said Cooper does charity work but his achievements in the ring hardly compare to those of LL. Also I know Cooper was well in with the posh toffs during the 1980s and they helped him make lots of money as a name at Lloyds of London till they had huge liabilities and required the names to pay up.

As a youngster I was always a Commodore 64 man, I never really liked those Amstrad CPC computers with built in tape drives. The few Amstrad things I ever bought did not last long and I have avoided the brand ever since.

Lennox deserves a knighthood no doubt about it but I think it should be given a good few years after they have retired.
It really annoyed me when Kelly Holmes became Dame Kelly Holmes more or less straightaway after winning two gold medals at the olympics.
Don't get me wrong anyone who wins a gold medal at the olympics deserves all the accolades but I thought that was way over the top and way too soon after the event!
Problem with Britain is our standards and expectations in sport are so low in sport that if someone wins something of any signifigance the hype goes overboard even for young kids like Becky Adlington in this years swimming ffs!
Give them honours and take away all their ambition at 21!!!

He came across like that when top gear ****ed up his garden. I know it was nice and all but it's only a garden.

Lennox already managed to get a gold medal before he even started his pro career too. I think it would mean more to Lennox than most, to be given the highest possible honour when a lot of people said he wasn't a true brit for a long time would mean a lot.

Yes but LL been retired a good few years now so why not give him one now. Sir Lennox sounds quite kewl.

That Adlington girl is one ugly looking female. Everytime I see her on the television I think of the elephant man.

Even Stirling Moss who was not even a F1 champion has a knighthood.

Lennox Lewis has spoken out vocaly on a number of political issues notably in his opposition to the Iraq war.

This might have prevented him from being knighted or delayed it by ten years.

Giving people honours such as Rebecca Adlington would most likely reduce their motivation to achieve more.

The England cricket team is a classic example. Paul Collingwood got an MBE for scoring 17 runs and bowling 4 overs.
