Default Thoughts on Lomachenko vs. Chonlatarn Piriyapinyo..

The fight is on the undercard of Pacquiao-Algieri... Pirriyapino was the guy who was "skipped over" to allow Loma vs Russell!

Piriyapinyo is currently 52-1.

Loma takes him out inside 4, gets a mandatory out of the way and moves onto the big fights next year.

This fights serves a purpose.

He may as well be 1-52.

Has never fought anyone of note aside from Chris John who damn near pitched a shutout against him.

Other than that, he’s fought nobody of note. His KO rate (33 stoppages in 52 wins) is somewhat deceptive, since he’s gotten stoppages in about 80% of his fights since the start of 2009. All that was against pretty dismal competition though.

In short: he’s ranked 46th on boxrec. Standard jokes about boxrec rankings aside, it’s usually a good way to get a general feel for where a guy ranks in a division. This ain’t a top 25 guy. He’s barely a top-50 guy.

Well I just hope he can last till the later rounds and give Lomachenko a half decent fight, would be lame if he had a glass chin and got knocked out in 3 or 4 rounds.

Personally, I didn’t think Piriyapino looked THAT bad against Chris John.
He had his moments in the middle rounds and proved his then unbeaten record certainly wasn’t all from hand-picked opponents and easy fights, either

Think its just a matter of levels.

Even with a decent chin, hes going to be tagged constantly.

Beating 53 rickshaw drivers isnt going to prepare him.

So he fought Chris John then? A little research shows that coming into that fight he was ranked 6th in the featherweight division.

Lomachenko you are a marvel...

Its actually a bit like that Thai Rigo walked through in under a round a month or so back.

He was 63-2-1

These Thai guys rack up ridiculous records.

Looknongyangtoy is better than Piriyapinyo, and has some of the same names on his resume plus some better ones. Piriyapinyo was mildly competitive for a couple of mid-rounds with a shot Chris John. Looknongyangtoy knocked down a prime Daniel Ponce De Leon.

Piriyapinyo never deserved his ranking, nor the shot at John, nor the shot with Lomachenko.

What type of style does he use? Is he a pressure fighter? Does he have a decent chin?

My thought is Thai boxers need nicknames, because their names are ridiculous. Loma by points, Thai's have pretty hard heads, and can take a decent shot.

Piriyapinyo is a solid fighter based on his almost-a-war defeat to Chris John. He looked pretty good to me, honestly. Everything else on his record, I don't know. But he should provide lots of action, at least.
