Thumbs up Toughest Ever Pro Debut

Was jus thinkin with our Olympians steppin up to pro level, which fighter can you think of stepped straight into their pro debut against tough opposition??

For example in his debut Rafael Marquez got KO'd in 8 by an former bantam champ in Victor Rabanales (after he fought McCullough)

Pete Rademacher of course fought for the heavyweight championship in his pro debut after winning gold at the olympics...

Anyone got anymore ?

Riddick Bowe beat Lionel Butler on his pro debut. Butler nearly secured a title shot and wouldhave been the best US Heavy in the world if he were operating today.

Actually no prob not but he was capable.

I heard Sugar Ray Lenoard fought a bloke on his pro debut..........and that bloke nailed him and buckled his knees

Lenoard weathered the moment and came through on points

It really is shit when you have fighters like Khan etc, saying their gonna be the best in the world etc, and their first 15 opponets are just so hopelessly outclassed its a waste of time

Khan etc are phoney

the likes of Ray lenoard were old school........they were thrown in against anyone and they were good enough to come through

Rademacher is the obvious one but theres also been a few Thai boxers who have made debuts at a very high standard after crossing over from Muai Thai.

Faced Floyd Patterson for the World HW title on his pro debut then faced Zora Folley in his 2nd fight.

Looking at his record, he faced a lot of good fighters in a short career. fighters. In 23 fights he faced Patterson, Folley, Chuvalo, Moore, Mildenberger, Terrell and Doug Jones

Yeah i remember at the time thinkin, this lad must think he's pretty handy...
but then again Haye had a good pedigree behind him

The guy who beat Bernard Hopkins on his debut just seemed to fizzle out, jus shows you the different paths boxers can take during the early parts of their careers...

Yeah.....

When a Thai boxer seems to lose a world title fight he gets put in with a debutant - a body to warm up on.

Look at Choi's 3rd or 4th fight - some opponent.
