Default Gomez at Heavyweight Title Shot

Juan Carlos Gomez has the style to defeat many of the heavyweights out there but seems to be always plagued by inactivity--how would he do against Holyfield if Holy somhow won his fight with Ibragimov--or how would Gomez fare against the Russian himself.

Well, Gomez has a horrible style for Holyfield because it's all about the jabbing and moving. Get in, quick combo, get out. He's a back foot fighter, often quite a lackadaisical one as well, but wouldn't be as negative as an Oquendo.

It's not his inactivity so much as his attitude...Gomez never seems to have really put his full effort into his career or fights.

Gomez-Sultan, well, that's a tricky one because Sultan too apparently can do the stick 'n' move. Plus with him being a southpaw...could perhaps be a bit like Byrd-Oquendo, not quite right but that's the closest I can think of at the moment.

I haven't been impressed with Gomez since he beat a very slow, sloppy SSS. He needs to shit or get off the pot IMO.

He was great at cruiserweight, but his career has been up and down ever since. Not sure about his chances against the title holders.

Gomez is one of the most talented heavies out there, but he is also a bloody lazy fighter who prefers partyhing to sweating in a gym.
He looked quite convincing against McCall in the first couple of rounds.Due to his pathetic stamina he lost the last few rounds against McCall who he had dominated quite easily before.
Anyway! He won a point decision against the old vet from the USA.
I dont think that Gomez will ever be a champ. He desperately needs his old coach Timm who kicked his ass whenever Gomez didnt attend the gym due to excessive parthying.
And even Timm wasnt able to control this loose cannon-girls,food,and other things attracted him more than the gym.
An old dog wont learn any news tricks.
