Default A serious discussion about Khan vs. Barerra

This is such an exciting fight to me, mainly because there are so many questions surrounding it.

Firstly, why is Murray vs. McCallister being talked about as a potential elimination towards a fight with Khan? Surely Barerra, even in this stage of his career, is a good step above these two. Should Khan get the win, why would he move on to fight the winner of this fight? Or perhaps this is a fall back plan should Khan lose?

Secondly, what's Frank ****** up to? Has he realised how much Khans stock has diminished since his loss to Prescott, and as such knows he needs a big name to draw in the money and reinstill the publics confidence in Khan?

I don't think ****** has any intention of selling Khan out here, ie by sticking in a fight he know he'll lose against just to make money on him. After all, he is currently ******s biggest star.

And finally, how do people think this fight will go? We all know Barerra could KO Khan, but is there any chance Khan could KO him? Remember Barerra has only been stopped once, and i think that was against Pacquiao, although i'm not sure. Khan should be the faster in this fight, and with Freddie Roach behind him is it possible he could outbox Barerra to a comfortable points victory?

I don't like Khan but I expect him to win the fight, and it could be by stoppage.

Wasn't MAB KO'd by Junior Jones in the 90's?

(Think that was his name, big straight punches right down the pipe took him out)

Khan by stoppage for me. Barrera will have gone 2 years since JMM and 18 months since Pac, and i just think his skills will have declined too much to overcome a bigger, younger, faster opponent with decent power like Khan.

This is a high reward gamble for ******.

Barrera is the man who humbled Hamed, this will do an incredible amount to restore the British publics beliefs that Khan is talented, should he win. More than any other fight out there for him.

I think this is the key here. The British like either someone succesful or a real underdog. Hence the 'Bruno effect'. Khan can come across as a little arrogant and so he'll never have the Bruno appeal, instead ****** needs to paint him as the next big thing. The Prescott defeat put a massive dent in that. For Khan to fight the man that beat Naz, to the casual british sports fan, puts him back to the top again.

Obviously, those of us with a little more of a clue will know that if Khan wins it's because Barrera is shot. But your average Daily Mirror reader wont know that.

Its a big risk by ****** and the whole of Khan`s team.He can win but i think he is going to have his hands full.If he does come through it,it will be a great learning expierience.Nobody really knows how far gone Barrera is,so its going to interesting when the fight gets underway.I hope Khan wins it Barrera has been a plesure to watch over the years, but is on his way out of the sport.Khan will go some way to restoring the damage done by Presscot and can hopefully move on to bigger things.
