The IBO is nothing like a real world title.

We all need to make that clear, just like Mundine holds no world title.

Explain a "real" world title for me.

Medley winning the full IBO title gets more cred than Mundines two paper titles

I don't know how you can actually believe that, tbh.

The IBO belt is rubbish. Noone (either the champions of the belt) acknowledge it as an actual real world title.

I don't know what the criteria is to get a mandatory shot at the IBO (ask Kegsy), but it always ends up being someone with a somewhat far less impressive record than contenders in the real orgs (WBA, WBC, IBF, WBO).

To win an interim title, or a 2nd tier WBA title, you still have to beat the number #1 contender in the division, or #2 if you are the number #1. So I'd regard the achievement of winning that title higher than someone winning the IBO title by beating some guy who has a record of say 23 - 11 - 5.

while i agree that the ibo is easier to obtain then the big 4. i will still like to have an ibo title then no title. in 10 years when medley retires he can still tell ppl that he was a world champ(as long as he wins the fight)

The IBO title isnt very highly recognised worldwide, but its a great step in the direction for Medley none the less.
Need more Aussies taking these sort of steps.

The IBO has difficulty enforcing any sort of mandatory defense, as its rankings are based through a computerized point scoring system.
Thus meaning most of the IBO champs are around 10-20 in their respective divisions on that list, with most people from 1-5 on their list holding world titles.

Its a bit tongue in cheek.

But Mundine beat Soliom who wasnt a real # 1 or 2 contender in the division.

Medley is fighting a guy with a good record of 26-1 9KO. He is ranked #7 with WBC. His only loss was to Kendal Holt. And he has beaten Nate Campbell, Cassius Boloyi, Phillip N'dou.

Eveyone was happy with Vic being a IBO title holder.

Anyway, im happy for Medley

Big jump for Medley, great to see him take the risk but he aint ready for it IMO.

The IBO may not have the cred of the other titles but really it depends on who you are fighting for the title.

Id say Antonio Tarver, who is the IBO light heavy champ, is a better win than the WBA champ Stipe Drews. Remembering the WBA is the oldest and arguable most prestigious of the all the alphabet titles.
Id say Ricky Hatton, another IBO champ, shits on every other champ at 140.

Hkjhgjfksdkjfhsdlkgh is a good fighter, not an elite welter, but easily top20. He is much smaller though, so that should help robbie out a lot because if the chips were stacked a lot more even in terms of size, the South African would have a field day and may well still.

GO ROBBIE!!!!!!!!

Thats true, but in Tarvers case, if Danny were to beat him, he'd more be celebrating having Tarver as a scalp rather being the IBO belt holder.
If say Danny had some sort of obligation to the IBO that prevented him from organizing a fight with Drews, I'm sure Green wouldn't hesitate in throwing the IBO belt to the shitter and fighting Drews for the WBA.

I don't mind the IBO rankings too much.

It is just the belt itself isn't highly prized.

IMO Isaac Hlatshwayo is too small for medley, he has fought at ightweight numerious times. Medley should be too big for him.
Also you cannot call this fight for a world title.

IBO, i wouldnt consider a true world title.
Only the big 4 are really world titles - WBC, WBA, IBF & WBO.
However i would rather win the IBO as a stepping stone instead of the WBC International Title, or WBA Intercontinental etc. Or a Pacific title like OPBF(WBC), PABA(WBA) or IBF Pan-Pacific.
