Since when has a propensity to come in looking like a tub of shit and gassing out after the first round not been a weakness? BJ is great, but he lost 2 of his last 3 fights, and has one win at his new weight class against a guy who just got knocked out by a 20 year old kid who hadn't even made the TUF cast yet. We have no reason to laud his p4p greatness until he proves it in the cage against a top 10 opponent which he hasn't done in years.

I agree, when Penn is on fire he burns the house down. Plus you know you've seen him pull off the virtuoso shit like Floyd and Jones in boxing.

When he slithered onto Hughes back, everyone should be in awe.

His dexterity is ridiculous.

How about beating a ranked opponent in the past 3 years. According to what you say, BJ never has to fight again and we can just all sit around and circle jerk to his "MAD SKILLZ" while he becomes the new Rickson.

Talent and potential is not what's measure when considering best p4p. BJ Penn can't make a strong case.

Don't get me wrong, I love BJ, one of my top 5 favorite MMA fighters. But I am a firm believer of backing shit up in the ring as your number one priority as a fighter. And that's what BJ has lacked. He appears to have turned a corner in attitude as of late, but until he steps into the ring against a top guy we don't know that. But the motivated, trained BJ Penn that raped Gomi is the best LW in the world, he just needs to live up to that potential.

BJ needs to stay at 155lb IMO. If he stays there he's likely to be in better shape than at 170lb and if BJ is in shape and focused then he has a shout for No 1 P4P. Only a shout though.

But he isn't gonna stay at 155 is he? He's moving up to 170lb which he's doing for some reasons but it has to be said there is also a degree of laziness on his part too.

He has all the talent in the world, but not the motivation, hence his shitty cardio and his tendancy to gas, leading to losses. Sorry, that's not the stuff of the best in the world.
